今年11月，一个由美国文化界杰出人物组成的代表团将抵达北京，参加一场为期四天的规模空前的文化交流盛会。

本届中美文化艺术论坛将通过演出、专题讲座和讨论来呈现美国文化各个领域中的精华，在中美两国艺术家间搭建新的合作机会，促进两国在视觉艺术、表演艺术、文学和饮食文化等领域中的对话交流。

此次论坛由亚洲协会美中关系中心，阿斯彭学会艺术项目，中国人民对外友好协会以及美国驻华大使馆组织。本活动旨在该方案旨在为中美间在价值观、艺术灵感和文化成就上开拓一个的全新交流平台，从而促进两国间的互相了解。

本次论坛将由美国驻华大使骆家辉先生主持的盛大晚宴拉开帷幕。该晚宴是一场把中国北京当地有机食材与美国食品可持续发展领域的实践先锋、著名餐 厅Chez Panisse创始人艾丽丝沃特斯女士的烹饪哲学巧妙融合的独特就餐体验。之后几天，美中两国的艺术家将有机会共同讨论和学习，参加一系列活动：包括科 恩兄弟作品《大地惊雷》以及梅丽尔斯特里普最新讲述撒切尔夫人生平的作品《铁娘子》的电影特映及观后讨论活动，共赏一出由马友友与中国音乐家同台奉献的，结合了古典、传统与现代的音乐旅程。

我们认为，作为21世纪最重要的双边关系之一的中美关系现正处在关键时期。我们希望明年能够迎来中国文化代表团的回访，从而将这个论坛交流活动推动 发展成为中美两国创新性的双边关系中长期稳定的参与者与组成部分。我们希望中美文艺论坛的举办能够在两国间文化及更多领域开启一个长期的富有建设性的交流 模式。

This November, a delegation of outstanding American cultural figures will travel to Beijing to take part in four days of unprecedented cultural exchange。

The US-China Forum on the Arts and Culture will include performances, master classes and roundtables that will showcase the best of American culture, while forging new opportunities for American artists to collaborate and converse with their Chinese peers, in fields including visual and performing arts, literature, and cuisine。

Organized by the Asia Society’s Center on US-China Relations and The Aspen Institute’s Arts Program, along with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the United States Embassy in Beijing, the program is intended to provide a platform for lively inquiry and begin a conversation between the two countries about their values, aspirations and achievements in the spirit of mutual understanding。

The Forum will commence with a grand banquet hosted by US Ambassador to China, the Honorable Gary Locke, featuring a culinary collaboration between Chinese organic farmers and celebrated chef Alice Waters, a pioneer in America’s sustainable food movement.In the days to follow, the program will include a screening and discussion of Joel and Ethan Coen’s True Grit, a special pre-release viewing of Meryl Streep’s film on Margaret Thatcher, The Iron Lady, and a concert in which Yo-Yo Ma and Chinese musicians will journey through classical, traditional and modern music。

We find ourselves at a critical moment for what is arguably one of the most important bilateral relationships of the 21st century.The events of this week are intended to be a part of a long-term cooperative, creative relationship between the US and China, with a reciprocal delegation of Chinese expected to visit the US in the following year.We hope that the constructive engagement we begin with this program will grow for many years in the arts and beyond。
